Gargoyle (ガーゴイル) is a type of combat robot created and mass-produced to battle mutants and cyborgs. This is a playable character in multiplayer.

Role in the Game

Gargoyles are encountered on the Black Side of the campaign. They appear only a few times and each time its to try to kill Jack Cayman.

A platoon of Gargoyles appear in Port Valenda during Jack's mission to find Max. Jack shoots a majority of them down with a stationary gatling gun. The rest of the platoon, however, manages to get in close, but are easily defeated.

Later on, they appear in Bari Shur during the fight against Cthulhu, providing support to the mechanical behemoth.

Attributes and Skills

Gargoyle will handle exactly like the AI controlled version in the campaign, Garuda is nearly identical to Gargoyle in combat. The only difference is that Gargoyle's Killer Weapon can be fired like a projectile.

Basically the Gargoyle/Garuda are great for crowd control but due to their hitbox they are vulnerable to Heavy Killer Weapon attacks. They also have a jet form that allows them to transport allies around the battlefield so this can be useful to get around enemies.

How to Obtain

A Gargoyle can be unlocked as a playable character using one of two methods:

• Beat both Jack and Leo's Red Side in the Campaign mode.
• Reach level 22 in online multiplayer.

Trivia

• Garuda's memories were implanted into a Gargoyle unit, thus they are similar.
• Although Gargoyle has similar moves like Garuda, it's Killer Weapon provides significant changes for it to be considered a separate character, namely the fact that Gargoyle can fire his Killer Weapon attacks as ranged projectiles, unlike Garuda.
